In an ideal world where we would have time to do everything on our ‘’to do list’’, our dog would deserve a daily brushing to maintain its beautiful coat and a bath as recommended by the veterinarian. However, we know that reality is quite different. Know that brushing and bathing are considered normal and necessary maintenance for your dog. Obviously, needs vary from one dog to another depending on the type of hair, their outdoor activities, etc ...

Here are some tips for you:

Shampoo

Choosing the right shampoo for Fido is the main element of the bath. You have to choose the perfect one that suits his needs, the type of hair and also according to the condition of his skin. For example, some dogs suffer from seasonal and/or food allergies, we recommend a product that is soft to the skin and that will soothe pruritus. Other dogs will have problems with dandruff or hair too greasy, it is recommended at this time to use a product restoring the skin balance. Our veterinarian will be able to recommend you the product that best suits Fido. Obviously, it is essential to protect the eyes and ears from the product to avoid the risk of inflammation. Little trick for long-haired dogs: it is best to comb them before the bath. This makes it possible to remove what needs to be removed (dead hairs, knot) and allow an effective washing. To apply the shampoo, you first have to moisten your companion with warm water and then make a good little massage with the product.

Rinsing

After washing Fido, it is important to rinse him thoroughly and remove any soap residue. Rinse until only clear water runs out. If this step is not well done, your furry companion could possibly develop a skin infection ... But by taking the necessary time and making sure to have everything removed, everything will be fine. Better be safe than sorry! Prevention is better and easier than finding a cure!

Conditioner

This step moisturizes and nourishes the hair to make it smoother and easier to maintain. Although it is not mandatory, it gives your dog's coat a last boost so that it stays in a good state. The conditioner can also reduce static electricity while giving luster and body to its coat. You can inquire about the best product to choose from one of our skilled grooming technicians.

Drying

It is necessary to wipe the dog well after the bath. You have to tap and not rub, this avoids creating knots. Using a hair dryer is possible to speed up drying and make the hair fluffy. The hair dryer must be set at low temperatures. Areas that retain the most moisture and require special attention are ears, armpits and under arms. Prepare enough towels to thoroughly dry your dog. Bigger is the animal, the more you will need.
